──タロットと心理の接点をめぐって」

東京タロット美術館では、フランスのタロット講師・著者である エマニュエル・イジェ を迎え、特別講演を開催いたします。
カードを引いたときに受ける感覚、その背後にある心のはたらきを、神秘的説明のみに委ねるのではなく、誰にとっても開かれた心理学的視点から考えます。
私たちはしばしば、「こうあるべき」「こう感じるべき」という外側から与えられた枠組みの中で、自分自身を理解しています。
しかし、ランダムに引かれたカードは、そうした前提を少し揺るがし、自分でもまだ十分に気づいていなかった感情や欲求に触れるきっかけを与えます。
エマニュエル・イジェは、タロットを特定の信念体系に依存しない実践として捉え、自己理解のための方法として伝えてきました。
このたびの講演でも、初心者にとっては入りやすく、実践者にとっては新たな思考の手がかりとなるかたちで、カードを引くという行為の意味を丁寧にひもといていきます。

Tarot as a Mirror of the Self:
The Psychology Behind Random Card Draws
How can a randomly drawn card feel spot-on? What are the actual mechanisms at work behind a tarot reading, and how can we use them knowingly to lead a more conscious life?
We all carry beliefs and assumptions, notably about what we “should” feel and want. But a card drawn at random doesn’t care about external expectations set by education, family, or social norms: thus, it will directly challenge them. This creates a safe space for experimentation, letting the reader try on different ways of thinking, and put precise words on their more authentic desires.
We will examine how drawing cards sets up a structured space designed to bring out insights using only accessible psychological principles. This approach, requiring no special belief, is available to anyone, regardless of their background or relationship to divination. Understanding how tarot works psychologically makes it easier to use, and bridges the gap between card-reading and mainstream psychology, giving readers the language to help skeptical friends and family understand the value in our practice.

PROFILE
- Emmanuelle Iger (エマニュエル・イジェ)
フランスのタロット講師・著者。
ライダー＝ウェイトの伝統をフランスに紹介した先駆的な存在として知られる。
象徴解釈、学習法、実践的活動、ビジネスへの応用などを扱う8冊の著書のほか、タロットをより身近なものとして学べるデッキや教育ツールも手がけている。
これまでに1,000人以上にタロットを教え、自己理解のための実践的なツールとしてタロットを伝えてきた。
特定の信念体系に依存せず、わかりやすい心理学的視点から、自分自身の物語を理解し、組み替えていくためのアプローチを提案している。
Emmanuelle Iger is a French tarot teacher and author who pioneered the introduction of the Rider-Waite tradition to France. She has published eight books on tarot — covering symbolism, learning methods, professional practice, and business applications — as well as decks and educational tools designed to make tarot accessible to everyone. She has taught over 1,000 students, demystifying tarot by presenting it as a practical tool for self-knowledge. Her approach works outside any belief framework, using accessible psychological principles to help us understand and reshape our personal narrative.
